Occupational Therapist

Kick Start Therapy Inc. has an immediate requirement for a registered Occupational Therapist (OT). The OT is part of the multidisciplinary team to support pediatric clients. We provide therapy at our center and in-home based on client preference.

Key Responsibilities: The Occupational Therapist assesses and treats children with fine-motor, gross-motor, sensory-processing, and self-care challenges, using evidence-based intervention plans tailored to each child’s development stage and family goals. The OT collaborates with Speech-Language Pathologists, Behaviour Analysts, Instructor Therapists, and caregivers to deliver integrated care, and coaches families on strategies that carry the therapy into everyday routines at home and at school.

Skill Requirements:

  1. Designing treatment plans using evidence-based information, relevant best-practice guidelines, and clinical reasoning
  2. Conducting standardized and observational assessments (fine/gross motor, sensory integration, visual-motor, self-care)
  3. Actively engaging clients, families, caregivers, and therapists to address client-centered goals
  4. Actively engaging in client/family and therapist coaching
  5. Evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention, client’s response, and progress toward achieving goals
  6. Providing evidence-based assessment and intervention

Education: Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) in good standing. Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

Experience: At least 2 years of experience working as an OT with children and youth, ideally including clients with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, developmental delays, or sensory processing challenges. A minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience in assessment, treatment plan implementation, and progress monitoring. The preferred candidate will possess strong teamworking ability and the capacity to contribute to staff training and professional consultation.

Key Responsibilities: The Psychotherapist assesses and supports children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, adjustment challenges, post-diagnostic transitions, post-stroke or post-accident emotional recovery, and parenting stress related to a child’s developmental journey. The Psychotherapist designs and delivers evidence-based individual and family interventions, collaborates with Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Behaviour Analysts, and provides resource navigation and ongoing coaching so that therapeutic gains extend into everyday life.

Skill Requirements:

  1. Designing treatment plans using evidence-based information, relevant best-practice guidelines, and clinical reasoning
  2. Delivering age-appropriate modalities: play-based approaches for children, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), family systems work, and supportive talk therapy for adolescents and adults
  3. Actively engaging clients, families, caregivers, and therapists to address client-centered goals
  4. Actively engaging in client/family and therapist coaching
  5. Evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention, client’s response, and progress toward achieving goals
  6. Providing evidence-based assessment and intervention

Education: Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) in good standing, with independent-practice authorization (or qualifying status with an appropriate supervision plan). Master’s-level training in counselling, psychotherapy, clinical psychology, or a related field.

Experience: At least 2 years of clinical experience delivering psychotherapy, ideally spanning pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations. A minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience in assessment, treatment plan implementation, and progress monitoring. Experience supporting clients and families affected by autism, developmental disabilities, post-stroke recovery, or motor-vehicle-accident (MVA) claims is an asset. The preferred candidate will possess strong teamworking ability and the capacity to contribute to staff training and professional consultation.

Kick Start Therapy Inc. has an immediate requirement for a full-time Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA). The RBA is part of the multidisciplinary team to support pediatric clients. We provide therapy at our center and in-home based on client preference.

Key Responsibilities: The Registered Behaviour Analyst creates and supervises individualized programming and behaviour support plans for children and youth with autism, based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. The RBA will help to build capacity in Autism Therapists by implementing and supporting best practices, ethical decision-making, and evidence-based consultation on ABA practices and instructional methods across a variety of contexts. Provides clinical supervision and mentorship for Instructor Therapists and Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) candidates, as appropriate.

Experience: At least 2 years of experience working in ABA with children and youth with ASD. A minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience in assessment, treatment plan implementation, and progress monitoring. The preferred candidate will possess strong teamworking ability and the capacity to contribute to staff training and professional consultation.

Key Responsibilities: The Speech-Language Pathologist assesses and treats children with speech, language, articulation, fluency, voice, and feeding/swallowing concerns, using evidence-based intervention plans tailored to each child’s development stage and family goals. The SLP collaborates with Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Analysts, Psychotherapists, and caregivers to deliver integrated care, and coaches families on strategies that carry the therapy into everyday routines at home and at school.

Skill Requirements:

  1. Conducting standardized and observational speech-language assessments (articulation, language, fluency, voice, social communication, AAC needs)
  2. Designing treatment plans using evidence-based information, relevant best-practice guidelines, and clinical reasoning
  3. Actively engaging clients, families, caregivers, and therapists to address client-centered goals
  4. Actively engaging in client/family and therapist coaching
  5. Evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention, client’s response, and progress toward achieving goals
  6. Maintaining clear, timely clinical documentation in line with CASLPO standards

Education: Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) in good standing. Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. New graduates with an initial CASLPO licence are welcome.

Experience: Preferred: at least 2 years of experience working as an SLP with children and youth, ideally including clients with autism spectrum disorder, language disorders, articulation disorders, or feeding challenges. Direct clinical experience in assessment, treatment planning, and progress monitoring. The preferred candidate will possess strong teamworking ability and the capacity to contribute to staff training and professional consultation.
